Birth Doula

As a Labour Birth and Postpartum Doula, I will provide you with evidence-based research to help you make informed decisions for a positive outcome. I will deeply respect and follow your leads in whatever decision you make and provide non-judgmental emotional and physical support. I will be mentally and physically present throughout your pregnancy and labour.  I will continue empowering and working with you and your partner to ensure the best outcomes possible.  I work for you and with you to foresee you having the birth experience you are imagining. 

I will meet with you, your partner, for two prenatal visits. That will allow us to get to know each other. During these visits, we will review your birth plan. We may also decide on other meetings and remain in touch by telephone or e-mail. I will be on call for your birth and will make every effort to be there. I will ask about your knowledge of the birth process and can provide information and education as needed. I will want to know your ways of coping with pain, fatigue and challenging situations and what strategies and techniques we can brainstorm to assist you with a comfortable birthing experience. 

As soon as you feel that you are having contractions, I ask that you call me to be present if you need direct support. I might need approximately 60 minutes to get to you from when you ask me to come. That will give me time to reshuffle any prior appointments or committments. I will try my best to join you as soon as possible or make backup arrangements as necessary. I can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone, and we can decide if I should come to you or plan to meet you at your birth place. I will also stay with you throughout your labour and birth. If I cannot attend your delivery, I will call a back-up doula to attend and give you the necessary support you need to ensure you have a fantastic and positive experience.

I will remain with you for an hour or two after birth until you feel comfortable and ready for quiet time. I will support you with initial breastfeeding, which is essential for latching and bonding with your new bundle of joy. I will schedule a postpartum meeting within a few days of the birth to visit you to see how you and your family are adjusting.  At that time, we will review the delivery plan to talk about feeding and baby care and also get your feedback about my role moving forward.

I offer a sliding scale between $1200 - $1700.  

Unless otherwise discussed, ½ of the total amount due is at the time of the contract, and the rest is followed two weeks before your due date.
