Linda Lionel
(she/her)
I am a mother of two and a proud grandmother. I have an Honours bachelor’s degree in child development, a bachelor's degree in education, and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I am currently employed with the Toronto District School Board as a teacher.
My journey to becoming a doula began when I started providing postpartum support to families by helping with baby care. Prior to my career in education, I worked as a nanny for over twelve years, which provided me with extensive experience working with families and children. These experiences motivated me to pursue certification as a doula.
I am a passionate, committed, determined, patient, and empathetic individual who deeply cares about the well-being of expecting mothers, parents, and new life coming into the world. My goal is to provide emotional and physical support before, during, and after childbirth. I am dedicated to using my skills, experience, and knowledge to reduce anxiety and create a stress-free and positive environment for mothers, birthing persons, and families.
As a trained professional doula, I am independently employed directly by you; therefore, you become my client. I provide support to pregnant women/persons during and after birth in order for them to stay strong and calm during childbirth. I offer comfort measures and coping techniques to help you have a comfortable birth experience. As I get to know your family, children and partner, I would love to know if you have any concerns and or requests based on religion, culture, or other specific family rituals that I need to be aware of in order for me to act in your best interest. As your doula, I work for you directly, not for your caregiver or hospital. I will assist you in positioning and relaxation techniques during birth as required. I will provide comfort and perspective to you and your partner by making suggestions as issues arise. I will facilitate conversations and seek to promote healthy communication among all members of your birthing team. I will discuss your concerns with you and your partner and come up with possible suggestions and/or solutions. I will work as a team with you and your partner to support you in discussions with your care provider and act as your advocate; by ensuring your concerns and well-being are being met while in communication with medical staff.
